Bahia Ballena is probably one of the last places you can go to get some authentic tropical tranquility. Part of me wants to keep this as a secret, but I figure that someone was nice enough to tell me about it, so Im going to do the same for someone else who is dreaming of finding a true 'escape' vacation spot. (Everybody else, please stay away.) Bahia Ballena is a wonderful town on the southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica, in the region known as Costa Ballena, and located 15 minutes south of the popular surf destination of Dominical. Bahia Ballena is a breath of fresh air for travelers looking to enjoy the natural beauty of the southern Pacific region, as well as the laid-back vibe of a small, charming Costa Rican town.  Though the tiny hamlets of Bahía and Uvita are less visited that their northern neighbor, and not nearly as geared up for tourism, this is precisely what makes a visit here unforgettable.  Visitors will be just floored by wide beaches washed by lazy breakers, palms swaying on the shore, and a hot, serene atmosphere. This will no doubt change, as more people discover Bahía Ballena, but for the time being it’s unspoiled, and kind of heavenly.
