If you get to BOS in one piece and on time,( and that's no small feat, since the signs are confusing, and even seem to be missing at some crucial junctures) I hope you want a sandwich, or enjoy sbarro's or the (admittedly nice) Vino Volo -cause that's all, baby, there's no place else to sit down and have something. The airport is not as dirty as some other true hair-raisers, but you can't eat off the floor, either. As is the unfortunate case in some large cities where the TSA is understaffed, and Im not sure thats an adequate excuse for the kind of behavior that seems to be dished out with regularity and impunity, the TSA staff behave kind of , well, drunk with power - routinely answering a polite and (people are scared of them! do they have to be?) timid approach with sneering ridicule and snarling overt contempt. The treatment I observed of one elderly couple bordered on abuse. Anyhoo, keep calm and carry on! The rest of the actual Logan airport staff were polite and helpful.

Car rental is just too far, and a taxi is eye-poppingly expensive.  Boston Logan airport parking is over $230 for 12 days - now , you know you can get a park and fly for less, and travel like a king. There are plenty of great BOS airport hotels right there, with a nice complimentary breakfast before you get into the shuttle and let someone else try to figure out where the signs went.
