Happy New Year, Y'all! BDL,easy to get to, easy to navigate to your gate, and just the right size not to be overwhelmingly complicated. Could there be more arirlines and flights? Of course- but that would mean a larger & busier airport. Food and drink options are minimal -but most people don't look for a full service sit-down meal at the airport, unless you're an unfortunate soul who missed a connection or had a delay issue. Seating at the gates are comfy with overhead TVs. Bradley International Airport parking is right across the street, easy to get to and eye-poppingly expensive

When I scheduled this trip, I did not know that Hartford had a major metropolitan airport for commercial use. I was happy that the major carriers fly here, including Delta and United Airlines. This airport was larger than I expected, but still carrying out that small regional airport feeling too. I have a feeling that they did some major improvements within the last 15 or so years, so everything is pretty much state of the art. Not much in the way of food and dining options here, since I wanted to hit downtown and be fresh for the weekend that was sure to hit me like a ton of bricks. The baggage claim was good and fast. I got my checked baggage about 15 minutes after getting from the gate. It was one of the few things I do appreciate about the airlines and their baggage handling. I do get nervous when friends tell me that their luggage got lost or "rerouted".

BDL is so much easier than NY airports b/c I can always get a ride to/from but there are no non-stop flights from LAX so it takes longer for me travel time wise. And if your flight is delayed or cancelled you can get stuck waiting around since there are not as many flights as there are from NY. In that case, its off to a BDL international airport hotel for a recharge.
