I love Fort Wayne's airport because they gave a cookie when I landed. Yes, a cookie! They sure know how to butter me up! When I returned for my return flight, my flight was in about 15 minutes, but American Airlines accepted my checkin bags anyway and made sure they wouldnt be left behind. TSA was also really nice. They checked my license and reminded me that my license was about to expire in a month.This airport is going for the "I'm your new Grandma" vibe, and kinda succeeding.

But all that's on the inside; on the outside Grandma's as tough as nails - Its a civil/military airport, and I find the small herd of intimidating looking A-10 jet fighters interesting to look at. But once inside its all charm.  As soon as you arrive a smiling welcoming grandma extends that cookie basket and a warm welcome; can you tell they really got me with that darn cookie? I am such a cheap date.
For the serious folk, they have a business center and free wi-fi.  For the leisurely they have a game room with classics such as Mrs. Pacman and a small aerospace museum.  For all they have a café and all-encompassing store.

Convenience!  No taking a train and a hike to find the rental office.  Its right around the corner off the gate.  No need to go hunting for the car, as you wait inside, they drive it up for you curbside, all warm with frost free windows.  If you park in the extended stay Fort Wayne International Airport parking lot, a person in an electric car personally transports you to the front door.  I just love this kind of treatment.
Lastly, it's a great airport for a crash landing -  Yes, flat farmlands all about for miles. If you want a big red barn, they've got lots - if you're after an FWA Airport hotel, you've got some looking to do.
