According to mint's online ranking, this is the nation's most on-time airport, with a 20% delay rate. 20%. That may sound like a lot, until you hear that the one at the bottom (San Francisco, woo-hoo!) had 34% delays, and 3% cancellations. Security is a breeze, which is a miracle for a large airport like this. Large enough to have a train connecting its 5 main terminals. The George Bush Intercontinental airport parking is just awful, as are pick-up and drop-off, and the rental cars are way too far away. There's no free wifi, and not many plugs either, which is probably because the place is as old as it looks. I have my own favorite little IAH aiport hotels nearby, I book a park and fly with them and there goes all my parking stress anyway.

The TSA staff are very nice, which is no shocker at a smaller airport, but at a hub like this, wowie. In general the enthusiastic brand of Texan friendliness is kinda fun. The design is good enough that even when filled with crowds, it still feels spacious. There's a baguette place in terminal C that will make you up a pretty yummy fresh sandwich, so I guess I'll take the nation's most on-time airport. Plus, they've got that statue of George Bush, Sr. going for them.
