I don't want to hurt your grotesque feelings, but sorry, LaGuardia, you are the ugly stepchild of the New York City area's three airports. First off, you're the most annoying to get to - the AirTrains to Newark and JFK really do make the trip much more comfortable and convenient and are totally worth the extra $5. The buses to LaGuardia from the subway can be painfully slowgoing. You're also really disorganized. The terminals don't clearly display their names on the exterior, which makes it very confusing for me to figure out when to exit the bus. You're also way overcrowded (clearly built for 1/2 or even 1/3 of the passenger traffic you get) and security lines can be incredibly long as a result. Finally, you're also dark, cramped and dingy - clearly in need of some serious renovation. LaGuardia Airport Parking runs from $15-$30 a day (gulp). New Yorkers know not to bother with that (I hope), and set up a hotel and parking package in advance, so they can score free vacation parking with a night's stay at one of many listed LaGuardia Airport hotels. BTW, I love your 19 inch (or was it 17?) "flight monitor", that cant be deciphered without a telescope, and looks like my grandma's tv, only hers is more modern. You also seriously need free wi-fi - at $8 or so for 24-hour internet access, Boingo is not cutting it for me.
Seriously though, DO NOT TAKE THE BQE here. Take the tunnel or 59th st. bridge to 21st ave and take that all the way to 21st STREET. Make a right and take that to 81st street. You will pass tons of food options, if you have time. Make a right on 81st and take that to the Marine Air Terminal entrance - its basically the back door to the airport. You can easily get to any terminal quickly, and without the BQE and/or GCP traffic that never ends. Better yet, snag the above-mentioned hotelnparking thingy, and you'll be driven to the airport, stress-free and fresh-looking. Overall, since it is small, LaGuardia isn't so bad, especially if you can get out fast. Its nowhere near as bad as JFK and Newark.
