Rated #4 on Travel and Leisure's 2012 List of America's Best Airports, MCO is one of the most convenient airports I've been to. There are signs everywhere, so it's pretty much impossible to get lost; and having only two terminals to deal with really simplifies things as well. I'd say the worst part about the airport would be the check-in process and the TSA Security Checks, The best part? Definitely the trams. I know they're a little Disney-monorail-esque, but that little ride is something I look forward to whenever I go on a trip. It makes me fee like a kid again and it's always great to see kids on the monorail acting so excited about being on it.
The free Wi-Fi is a bonus here, the people always seem friendlier (even the TSA folks), and the place is really clean and not run down like a lot of other airports. Orlando Airport Parking is about $17 a day, and although a big plus is that the rental car pickup and drop off are right at the airport...like 100 feet from the doors of the terminal, and there's no adding an hour to drop off the car and then get shuttled back- why would you even bother? You can set up a hotel and parking package deal and get your parking, and your ride to the terminal, for free. As for which Orlando Airport hotel to choose, you've got a lot of gorgeous hotels lined up for you.
The shops are great for perusing if you're early or waiting for someone to arrive; it's definitely a stop if you forgot to get souvenirs from Disney, Universal, Harry Potter World, etc. Food is overpriced, but that's the airport way; I've taken to packing my own foods (a sandwich, bento box, fresh fruit) just to avoid the ridiculous prices and save my money for my destination. The airport is a little dated; you don't get the outlet stations they have at a lot of other airports. So if you're running on battery, you'll have to hunt around for a wall outlet and just camp out there. There also might be some construction going on in the two terminals; it's minimal and noninvasive, but can be sore on the eyes.
