In celebration of the 75th Anniversary of McGhee Tyson Airport, the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority (MKAA) is now accepting applications for its inaugural Aviation Academy to be conducted on four consecutive Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. from May 3 – 24, 2012. Aviation plays a crucial role in the economic vitality and success of our region. Through the Aviation Academy, MKAA will work to raise awareness of what it takes to successfully operate McGhee Tyson Airport and what critical role the community plays in the flights and services available at the facility. Through the Academy, attendees will get an in-depth look at commercial, military and general aviation and will meet with key organizations that play a significant role in the day-to-day operations of the airport. Attendees should be someone who would enjoy learning more about aviation while also contributing to a better understanding of the community’s needs and concerns in air service.
