What's not to like about SNA? Speedy check-in process, speedier if you don't have to check in a bag, since they have kiosks at every entrance that allow you to print your boarding pass.  If you're a carry-on-only passenger, grab your pass and hustle your way to a security line.  If the first one you come across is a little too long for your taste, walk the extra twenty-thirty feet to the next one! The line might actually be shorter there, you never know.

The airport itself is small, immaculate, and has free wi-fi to keep you occupied!  Hint for Southwest passengers: there are no chargers/wall-sockets at your gates.  Hike over to United or look for the recharging stations.Also, since it's a small airport, it doesn't really matter where you get dropped off; it really only saves you about 2 minutes of walking once you get past security.  Since this is the O.C., baby, its really hard to go wrong with any John Wayne Airport hotels; all very nice.

For John Wayne Airport parking, there's the standard lot.  They also have a handy valet service for people flying out for the day ($10/hour, $30/24hrs) There's decent food available for you to snack on in the airport, but if you're really hungry and have the time to kill, drive over to Diamond Jamboree or the shopping center on Culver and Michelson.  Better food there if you have the time.

Fun trivia.  Because of the noise ordinance, planes flying in/out of SNA do their take-off at a steeper angle.  Some people notice and others don't, but those with sensitive ears will probably notice more; and those positioned next to the wings (and engines) will hear and possibly feel it.  Don't freak out!
