When it comes to cruise vacations, everyone keeps in mind the cost of the cruise itself. But most people especially first time cruisers do not realize that parking can be a huge expense as well.
The Port of Miamis official parking costs $20 per day. Thats more than $140 for a 7 day cruise. While some nearby independent lots charge significantly less, the price still adds up over the course of a week.
The good news is that you do not have to shell out this money. Many hotels in the area cater to cruisers. If you stay one night with them, they offer free parking during your cruise. If you’re not planning to stay in a hotel, then buying a room simply for the parking isn’t likely worth it. Extended Stay America | Downtown/Brickell Distance: 3.3 miles from the cruise port While the hotel does not list an actual parking package, it does offer parking for $15 a night. That may not sound cheap, but its $7 per night off the rate offered at the cruise port. That saves you nearly $50 off a week-long cruise.
Hampton Inn Miami Airport Distance: 8.3 miles from the cruise port This hotel sits just off the airport property to the south. With it is parking package you can get up to 14 nights parking included in your rate. That’s a huge discount off parking at the port.
Hampton Inn Coconut Grove Distance: 6.3 miles from the cruise port For under $200 you can get a room just a few miles from the port at this Hampton Inn. The hotel sits near the water in Coconut Grove and comes with 7 nights parking included in the rate.
Hilton Garden Inn Miami Airport Cruiseport Distance: 11.1 miles from the cruise port Looking for a cheap option for parking? This hotel offers up $129 rates that have parking for up to 7 nights included.
Hyatt Place Miami Airport Cruiseport West/Doral Distance: 12.4 miles from the cruise port Headed out on a longer cruise? This might be your best option. The hotel provides up to 14 nights parking included in their parking special. That length of trip would cost you $280 at the Port of Miami for parking alone.
Quality Inn Miami Airport and Cruiseport Hotel Distance: 12.3 miles from the cruise port Near the intersection of Palmetto Expressway and NW 36th, this hotel sits in a small group of options that all have cruise parking. Where is Miami Cruise Port? Located on Dodge Island, PortMiami is in sheltered Biscayne Bay just a short sail from the Atlantic Ocean. The port handles a vast amount of cargo and containers as well as cruise ships.
Is there a free shuttle from Miami cruise port to airport? A complimentary shuttle to and from the Miami International Airport (schedule is 6 am-11 am and 5 pm-10 pm) and the cruise port are offered by this hotel. Shuttles to the port of Miami vary each week depending on which cruise one is taking. The port shuttles are free but there is a return fee to the hotel.

MSC Cruise broke ground on new terminal
MSC Cruises and Miami-Dade County officials broke ground on the new terminal at PortMiami on March 10, 2022. The terminal is expected to be finished by the end of 2023. It will have three berths for mega cruise ships and room to move up to 36,000 passengers a day, for what will be North America’s largest Cruise Terminal.
